These works began as moments of curiosity. Some explore the remarkable behaviour of watercolour, others the quiet discipline of graphite, but all are original pieces created as part of my ongoing studio practice.
Working on paper allows me to follow an idea wherever it leads. It is where I experiment with new pigments, different watercolour papers and new techniques as they become available. There is always something new to discover, and these works often become the place where those discoveries begin before finding their way into my larger paintings.
Many of the discoveries made on paper eventually find their way into my larger oil paintings, particularly within the The Colours Of Weather collection.
