Colours of Weather

What would happen if… I painted the weather with as little as possible?

That question became the beginning of The Colours of Weather.

I’ve always believed that a landscape doesn’t need every detail to tell its story. Sometimes a single tree, a quiet horizon and the suggestion of cloud are enough to capture the feeling of a place. In these smaller paintings, I enjoy discovering just how much can be said with less.

Working in oil, watercolour and ink, each painting reduces the landscape to its simplest elements, allowing colour, atmosphere and changing weather to take the lead. They may be modest in scale, but they’re never small in intention.

They’re also wonderfully versatile. These smaller paintings are perfect for bookshelves, hallways, studies, bedside tables, little nooks and quiet corners, or for creating a gallery wall that grows over time. Sometimes it’s the smallest painting that quietly becomes your favourite.

And just when I think I’ve pared everything back as far as I can…

I wonder what would happen if…?
