The Silence Between was created for Charleston’s Fine Art Auctions as part of my continuing exploration of weather, atmosphere and the Australian landscape. A solitary flowering tree stands beneath a vast dark sky while a luminous cloud drifts across the horizon, illuminating the landscape with a quiet, fleeting light. The painting captures the stillness that exists between moments of change, when the world seems suspended in anticipation.

The contrast between the glowing cloud and the deep surrounding darkness creates a powerful sense of mood and presence. Reflecting my fascination with the emotional language of landscape, the work explores themes of reflection, patience and the quiet spaces that often hold the greatest significance.
