The Sea To The Shore is a large original oil painting from the exploring the solitary themed paintings.
The inspiration for this piece is taken directly from a beautiful piece of poetry by Robert Fanning – Song Of The Sea To The Shore ;
“Unravelling velvet, wave after wave, driven
by wind, unwinding by storm, by gravity thrown –
however, heaving to reach you, to find you, I’ve striven
undulant, erosive, blown –
Or lying flat as glass for your falling clear
down; I can’t swallow you – as two reflected stars,
surfaced, lie near – as if the sky’s
close element is one in me, where starfish
cleave to stones – if you’re so far?
I’ve touched you, I know, but my rush
subsides; our meetings only leave desire’s
fleeting trace. Every place I touch you
changes shape. Shore, lie down –
undo. I’ll fill your thirsty bones with blue.
I’ll flood your every cave and we’ll be one.”
Apparently I am not finished ‘exploring the solitary’ and continue to revisit this series. Visiting the Art Lovers Gallery on the Gold Coast recently for the Bold exhibition – I suddenly realised my works are minimalist and uncluttered – something that simply hadn’t occurred to me before. Nothing like a little soul searching and self realisation!
The painting is signed on the front with my name ‘Lucinda’ and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
The artworks on gallery style stretched canvas, do not require framing as the colour is continued round the sides, these are ready to hang, however, a box frame on this style of canvas can dress the painting really well. If you would like the work framed with a floating frame just tick the box!
