On The Breakwater is a large original oil painting from a new series “Songs Of The Sea”. This is still an extension of exploring the solitary themed paintings.
The inspiration for this painting comes from a beautiful poem by Carl Sandburg :
“On the breakwater in the summer dark, a man and a girl are sitting,
She across his knee and they are looking face into face
Talking to each other without words, singing rhythms in silence to each other.
A funnel of white ranges the blue dusk from an outgoing boat,
Playing its searchlight, puzzled, abrupt, over a streak of green.
And the two on the breakwater keep their silence, she on his knee.”
Apparently I am not finished ‘exploring the solitary’ and continue to revisit this series. Visiting the Art Lovers Gallery on the Gold Coast recently – I suddenly realised my works are minimalist and uncluttered – something that simply hadn’t occurred to me before. Nothing like a little soul searching and self realisation!
If you love this piece but it doesn’t quite suit your space, I would be delighted to work with you to produce an artwork that will work for you and your home, I enjoy commissions and it’s always great to know that this is something uniquely yours.
The paintings are signed on the front with my name ‘Lucinda’ and come with a Certificate of Authenticity. This painting in on one of my new branded canvasses – so you know its an original. Please be assured that I only use quality products for my works.
The artworks on gallery style stretched canvas, do not require framing and the colour is continued round the sides, these are ready to hang, however, a box frame on this style of canvas can dress the painting really well.
The piece will arrive cocooned in bubble wrap and packed within a sturdy cardboard container, carefully protected for the journey.
