O’ Seabird!
I have watched you as o’er the strand you fly
And as upon the wind you dance.
O’ envy I must of you and your flight so free,
For within my soul enchants!

Rather than painting the bird itself, I wanted to paint the feeling of its flight. The sweeping cloud formations echo the outstretched wings of the albatross as they drift above the sea, where sky, water and weather seem to move together. Painted in layered blues and soft whites, Dance Upon the Wind is less about a place than a moment of freedom carried by the wind.
