There has been so much happening this month with one thing and another – the Doyles Art Award is happening as I write this – both my entries were accepted, the Brisbane Rotary Art Show is coming up – accepted into that as well and I’ll be exhibiting in Melbourne next month at The Art Lovers Gallery !
But the most exciting thing of all was a box of goodies that arrived from England from Jackson’s. New products make you create – they tantalise and intrigue – so many ideas just keep popping into your head about how you can use something new!
As an artist it can be hard to introduce new and varied work to your portfolio – so it does need to be done slowly – well I have been sneaking in some mixed media landscapes and they seem to have been received quite well I’m pleased to say.
Working with these new products I find I work in an intuitive and totally spontaneous way – responding to the feel, the atmosphere and even the smell (as in the ocean – nothing yucky here), it’s really quite liberating!
So here are few examples of where I’m headed – I’m not saying the other work won’t still be coming out of the studio but who knows where this new way of seeing will lead?
