‘Mystery of the Skies‘.
This workshop is just about how to paint clouds. I am constantly asked how do I paint the sky – so this should expell any myths and make the process so much easier for all those landscape artists that struggle with the sky. The sky in a landscape painting, especially I think in an Australian landscape, explains the time of day and season and gives the viewer an idea of the mood of the piece – essential to tell that story on canvas.
What to bring : small canvas, acrylics or oil paints, brushes and palette.
Time and Date : 9.30 – 12.30 Friday 24/01/2025
Cost : $250

‘Expressive Flower Still Life inspired by the techniques of Yuko Nagayama”
Join us for an immersive watercolour workshop where you will explore the vibrant world of floral still life, drawing inspiration from the captivating works of Japanese artist Yuko Nagamaya. This workshop is designed for those with a modicum of watercolour skills, looking to enhance their expressiveness in watercolour painting.
The workshop will begin with a brief presentation on Yuko Nagamaya’s artistic approach, focusing on her use of colour, texture, and composition. Participants will examine several of her floral pieces, discussing how she captures the essence of flowers with fluid brushwork and emotive colour palettes.
Participants will need to bring their own materials.
Following the introduction, our experienced instructor will lead a step-by-step demonstration on creating a flower still life. You’ll learn to sketch your composition lightly, select a harmonious colour scheme, and apply various watercolour techniques, such as wet-on-wet and dry brush, to achieve texture and depth.
After the demonstration, participants will have ample time to paint their own flower still life. You will be encouraged to express your unique style while incorporating Nagamaya’s techniques. Guidance will be provided as you explore colour mixing, layering, and how to capture light and shadow in your work.
At the end of the workshop, we’ll have a sharing session where participants can showcase their work and discuss their creative process.
Join us for a day of creativity and connection as we bring the beauty of flowers to life through watercolour, celebrating the expressive style inspired by Yuko Nagamaya!
