When the Light Spoke was created for Charleston’s Fine Art Auctions as part of my continuing exploration of light, weather and the Australian landscape. A vast cloud formation rises above the horizon, illuminated from within as it towers over the open land below. Beneath its presence stands a flowering tree, providing a quiet counterpoint to the immense drama unfolding in the sky.

The painting reflects my fascination with those rare moments when light transforms the landscape and an ordinary scene becomes something extraordinary. The contrast between the monumental cloud and the delicate tree creates a sense of wonder, stillness and quiet revelation.
