The Edge of Listening was created for Charleston’s Fine Art Auctions as part of my continuing exploration of atmosphere, weather and the Australian landscape. Beneath layers of gathering cloud, a cluster of luminous flowering trees emerges from the landscape, their bright foliage standing in quiet contrast to the darker forms beyond. The painting captures a moment of stillness when the landscape seems to pause before change arrives.
Soft transitions of light and shadow create a contemplative atmosphere, while the distant clouds suggest weather moving across the horizon. Reflecting my ongoing fascination with mood and place, the work invites the viewer into a landscape of quiet observation and anticipation.
