Holding Ground was created for Charleston’s Fine Art Auctions as part of my continuing exploration of weather, resilience and the Australian landscape. Beneath a vast sky of gathering clouds, a solitary flowering tree stands firmly within the landscape, illuminated by a break in the weather. The painting captures that moment when strength is found not in movement, but in remaining steadfast.
The dramatic cloud formations and luminous light create a sense of tension and possibility, while the tree becomes a symbol of endurance and quiet resolve. Reflecting themes that often appear throughout my work, the painting celebrates the resilience of both landscape and spirit.
