The Road Into Weather was created for Charleston’s Fine Art Auctions as part of my continuing exploration of weather, atmosphere and the Australian landscape. A narrow road leads the eye towards a cluster of flowering trees while a vast cloud rises above the horizon, dominating the landscape with its presence. The painting captures the sense of movement and anticipation that comes from travelling towards an approaching change in weather.
The contrast between the intimate scale of the trees and the monumental cloud reflects my fascination with the relationship between people, landscape and sky. Both dramatic and contemplative, the work invites the viewer to follow the road and discover what lies beyond the horizon.
